Can’t Wait for Mondays: Crash into You by Katie McGarry

When I read Pushing the Limits, I wasn’t really sure it was going to be for me. I can be picky when it comes to teen romances with drama. Sometimes there’s just too much that goes on that’s either unbelievable or cringe-worthy. Instead, I found myself completely drawn in and loving McGarry and her writing.

The same thing happened when I read Dare You To. I knew McGarry could write a contemporary teen novel that didn’t stray into the overly dramatic, but I was still just a little hesitant. I had absolutely nothing to fear. Dare You To was even better and gave my heart even more flutters.

And now to round out the trio of friends’ stories, Isaiah gets to tell his love story. And I really, really can’t wait. From everything I’ve read, it is even more glorious than the first two novels.

That sounds like a book that is going to get my heart racing for more than one reason. And those are the books I love. They get me involved and caring and then something comes along to make me catch my breath.

Can’t Wait for Mondays: A Radiant Sky by Jocelyn Davies

The Beautiful Dark series is one that I fell in love with from the very beginning. I’ve always been interested in the battle between light and dark, good and evil, and the Beautiful Dark deals with that topic in a gorgeous way.

If A Beautiful Dark and A Fractured Light  were about Skye trying to decide if she’s light or dark, A Radiant Sky is about her deciding she doesn’t have to be one or the other. She can chose to be neither and follow her own path.

That has me extremely excited. I can’t see how this series might end and I’m so grateful I don’t have a clue. It sounds like there is going to be drama, romance, action…everything I love in a book. I’m sure my heart is going to be in my throat at times, but I have faith that Davies will end this series in the most beautiful, wonderful way possible, whatever that may be. I’m not even sure I know what I want to happen. I’m really looking forward to the surprises that are about come.

A Radiant Sky will be released in just a few short weeks, on September 24th. I’ve got my copy pre-ordered and can’t wait to start reading.

Can’t Wait for Monday: Everneath Series by Brodi Ashton

On my to-read shelf, there are a couple of series waiting to be read. I got tired of reading a book and having to wait a year for the next one, followed by another year for the last one. So I decided to wait. The Everneath series is one that I have been watching and waiting for and finally it’s almost complete.

I love mythology and modern retelling of myths, so Everneath seemed like it would be my cup of tea. The Hades and Persephone myth is one that I’ve always found fascinating. Half the year, Persephone can do as she pleases, go where she likes, be who she wants to be. The other half of the year, she must remain by Hades and look over the Underworld, even though that wasn’t her choice.

I’ve been (not so) patiently waiting until the final book of the series is released so I can sit down and binge read. Evertrue is set to be released in January and you can be sure I will be buying my copy of Everneath, Everbound, and Evertrue  before locking myself away and not surfacing until I’ve read my way through them.

Can’t Wait for Mondays: Champion by Marie Lu

The Legend series is one that kind of came out of nowhere and hit me in the face. I really hadn’t meant to read Legend, but a friend gave me the book and told me I should read it. I trust her judgment, so I picked the book up and read. Thank god I did. Legend hooked me right away, pulled me into the world of June and Day, and made me care. Then Prodigy came out and I had to have it right away. I needed to see what was going to happen next. And then I finished it and thought I would have to wait a year until getting my hands on the final book.

So imagine my surprise and joy when Lu told the world the final chapter in the Legend series would be released in November. I think the smile stayed on my face for a couple days and I had to explain that it was over a book being released earlier than I thought. Only true book lovers understood why that would etch a smile onto my face that wouldn’t leave.

Let’s be real, with a description like that, the sooner it can be released, the better. There’s only so much my heart can handle and I am certain Lu is going to push, bend, and break it in all the right ways before hopefully putting it together again. There are so many possibilities within this book that just thinking about what might be coming gets overwhelming.

Can’t Wait for Mondays: Deception by C.J. Redwine

I was given Defiance to read last year and since finishing it, I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Deception. Redwine has created an extremely interesting world that got my heart pumping. The long wait is almost over, but it’s still so far away.

I mean, come on. With a description like that, these last final weeks are going to feel so stretched out, time moving through molasses, until the 27th of August finally gets here. Then my plan is to read it and not stop until I’m done, maybe get a little food, and then give it another read.

Can’t Wait for Mondays: The Retribution of Mara Dyer

I had a little bit of a love-hate relationship with the Mara Dyer series. The first book was good, but I was split on it. The romance part of the story was spot on, even if Noah was a little too perfect, but the paranormal side fell a little flat for me. I thought the series had promise though, and picked up The Evolution of Mara Dyer to read. Everything that i felt wasn’t there in Unbecoming was in Evolution. I went from feeling a little meh about the series to being in love. And that’s why I can’t wait for The Retribution of Mara Dyer. I am so incredibly excited to see how this story ends.

There is no book blurb yet, so I have no idea what to expect from this final book. The ending of Evolution had me pacing, wishing time would go just a little faster so we could see what happens next. There is so much left that needs to be explained and dealt with. There is so much more Noah that we need to see. Because, really…Noah.

I’ve been waiting patiently for this book to come out and that time is getting closer and closer. As soon as that pre-order button becomes available, you can be sure I will be clicking it.

Can’t Wait for Mondays: Morning Glory

I was introduced to Sarah Jio when her novel Blackberry Winter was a Kindle Daily Deal. Her name had never crossed my radar before, but the book sounded good and it was on sale. Those are two things I can’t resist. I didn’t realize at the time that I would love her words as much as I did. Sometimes it takes a couple of books before I know I’ve found an author I love. I knew halfway through Blackberry Winter that Jio would be taking up a prominent spot on my bookshelves.

Her next novel, Morning Glory, is expected to be published November 26 and that feels entirely too far away.

I love how Jio mixes history with the current times. Her focus on how the past can affect today is something I have always been fascinated by and I’ve yet to find an author who can blend the two as well as Jio. I can’t pinpoint the exact reason I love her novels so much, but there’s something about the characters and how timeless they are that I adore. I will be telling everyone I can to read her novels.

I will read anything Jio publishes and Morning Glory is no exception. I really can’t wait for this novel.

Can’t Wait For Monday – The Bitter Kingdom

Ask anyone and they will tell you I am not a patient person. During the Olympics, I look up the results as soon as I can so I know how events will end. Before I got a Kindle, I’d read the last few pages of a book so I could see how it ended. I just hate waiting.

I’ve been waiting for Rae Carson’s The Bitter Kingdom for what seems like forever. I know that it’s been less than a year, but the book devouring part of my brain doesn’t believe it. It feels that anything longer than a day is eternity. Logic doesn’t work well with my book loving side.

I mean, really, how am I supposed to wait patiently for a book like that? Elisa is one of the strongest heroines I’ve read, taking charge of her role in the world and making her own destiny. As if that wasn’t enough, Carson has written one of the most amazing love stories as well.

Ever since I read the last lines of The Crown of Embers, I have been counting down. And now the release date is getting closer. In fact, it’s less than two months away. 50 days.

I’ve got this book pre-ordered already. I know I won’t be getting much sleep the night of August 27th, because who needs sleep when you have a book to read? There’s always coffee.

Can’t Wait For Monday – The White Princess

I’ve got a to read list a mile long, but I’m constantly adding to it. Every time I come across an amazing series, I’m left waiting for the next book to be released. This Monday, I’m going to talk about the upcoming book in Philippa Gregory’s The Cousin’s War series, The White Princess.

I’ve always been a fan of history and when I stumbled across Gregory’s novel The Queen’s Fool, I knew I had found an author I’d always read. I went through the entire Tudor Court series and was elated when I heard about her Cousin’s War series. I started reading The Lady of the Rivers first, then went back and read The White Queen and The Red Queen as quickly as I could. When The Kingmaker’s Daughter was released last year, I bought it immediately and devoured it. Next up is The White Princess, the story of Princess Elizabeth of York.

I really can’t say how excited I am for this book. Elizabeth and Henry’s marriage is what brought about the end of the Cousin’s War by bringing the York and Lancaster sides together again. After years and years of battles and turmoil, there might finally be peace. Of course, that peace will be disrupted by the missing York prince, Elizabeth’s brother, and the best claimant to the throne. When I try to imagine Elizabeth’s struggle between staying true to the side she was raised to believe was right and the husband she is starting to love, I don’t know what I would do. Obviously we know how things went down in history, but reading Gregory’s interpretation of it will give me even more to think about.

Gregory never disappoints me when it comes to building the fantastic world of the English royals and I have no doubts about The White Princess. It comes out July 23rd and you can bet I’ll be downloading it to my kindle as soon as it becomes available at midnight.
